Bevin - River Oaks Country Club bridals

A few weeks back I got to play with Bevin on a Sunday and take some bridal portraits for her upcoming wedding ( which was this past Saturday- photos from that later). I was not able to show them until now because we wanted to keep her beautiful Monique Lhuillier dress a secret until the big day. Isn't she gorgeous?! We chose River Oaks Country Club as our location because it is so filled with light and I absolutely LOVE the hand painted wall paper.

Bevin was a great subject to have for so many reasons, but the best was that she let me do whatever I wanted and we got to get some great and creative photos for her. Bevin is a photographer as well as the interem directer for the Houston Center for Photography, so I brought along my big ole crown graphic to use as a prop. I also got to use my home made tilt shift lens, which I am so in love with. I think I am going to have to name her soon. I was thinking Georgia or Gertie.....

FYI, I shot these for D. Jones Photography and David and I both shot the wedding!

Watermelon on Monday- Houston, Texas childrens photographer

So this past Monday, Memorial Day, we were all set to go swimming. According to the Houston parks website, the city pools were meant to open this past weekend, BUT when we got there, alas, the website was apparently wrong :( They dont open until June 5th!

So whats a girl in need of a pool to do?

Go to Academy of course and purchase a big ole blow up pool! We really dont have the yard space to have a great big one, and it's not like you can swim in them anyway, so we thought a 10ft x 30" one would do nicely to spalsh around in and cool off. It worked!

I also had to drop by central market to do some grocery shopping, those foodie points needed to be spent! While there they had HUGE watermelon quarters for $1.99. Had to get that :) The kids don't really like the seeded ones, but I figure they will get used to it. I remember my dad used to tell me if I ate the seeds a watermelon would grow in my tummy... still the seeded ones always taste sweeter to me for some reason. Besides, aren't watermelons supposed to have seeds?
