Bevin - River Oaks Country Club bridals

A few weeks back I got to play with Bevin on a Sunday and take some bridal portraits for her upcoming wedding ( which was this past Saturday- photos from that later). I was not able to show them until now because we wanted to keep her beautiful Monique Lhuillier dress a secret until the big day. Isn't she gorgeous?! We chose River Oaks Country Club as our location because it is so filled with light and I absolutely LOVE the hand painted wall paper.

Bevin was a great subject to have for so many reasons, but the best was that she let me do whatever I wanted and we got to get some great and creative photos for her. Bevin is a photographer as well as the interem directer for the Houston Center for Photography, so I brought along my big ole crown graphic to use as a prop. I also got to use my home made tilt shift lens, which I am so in love with. I think I am going to have to name her soon. I was thinking Georgia or Gertie.....

FYI, I shot these for D. Jones Photography and David and I both shot the wedding!

Seasha's Fearless Bridal session at Krause Springs

So last weekend I set out to Krause Springs to go camping, meet up with some friends and fellow photographers from a flickr group I moderate and take photos of Seasha McKay, my former room mate from way back when before we had kiddos. I visited Krause Springs several years ago and took some photos with my holga camera, but I knew then that it really deserved to be a full blown "project" at some point and I have had this certain photo in mind for a while. I envisioned having a bride swinging on a rope swing over this turquoise lagoon, filled with moss and dramatic cypress tree roots ( OK, so maybe not all in the same photo, but you get the point). Krause Springs is just one of those beautifully magical places- it even has fireflies when it is warm! To execute this particular vision, I could  not use just any ole bride or model. I really needed someone who was strong, agile and could swim in a wet dress that would add 40lbs of weight when wet! Seasha has always been extremely athletic, so I knew she was a great choice, plus she is just beautiful naturally, so she was my first choice :)

On Saturday morning we met up with Seasha and two Austin photographers, William Bay and Nana Aikens. We really had a great time getting these photos, William even got into the water with his camera!
