Maddie in the grass

Ok, so really I was just testing out my lens on these, but why not try to get some good photos out of it?

I have been having some weird inconsistant lines show up on some of my images the last two times I have had a shoot. Its not on every image ( thank goodness) I usually use my 50mm lens so I wondered if it was the lens or if it was the camera ( the lines are straight and do not show up on every photo) Anyway...no lines on these that I can see, so the verdict is still out....I used the 135 for these. I might test out the 24-70 tomorrow...then try the 50 again.

Today Maddie took a cooking class at Central Market called Cookiepalooza! They made orange peanut butter cookies ( eh), Chocolate oatmeal cookies ( yum), spiced pretzels ( nothing like a pretzel if you ask me, but not nasty in any case) and Snickerdoodles ( good, but not as good as moms).

I was looking at the ingredient list and its all natural stuff, but maybe, just maybe, these things really do taste better made with margerine and crisco....the ones she made had real butter, but they just were not as good as I remember from making them when I was a kid....or maybe my taste buds are dead. Or maybe mom's recipes were just better... Who knows?

No photos today, although I wish I could post some. I did do some really cool photos of a semi-naked cellist the other day which I just finished editing, but they are for her husband's eyes only :)

Crafty day in Houston

Mads and I started the day not by going to an early morning swim practice, no, but going over to Sew Crafty on White Oak and being part of a News feature by Patricia Lopez which will air on Channel 13 tomorrow at 4pm and 6:30. Anyways, I then took Sadie over the Edwards to see " Up" which was sad and sweet and funny all at the same time :) Then went to the park and snapped this one. Just when her hands were healing all up we go back to the monkey bars....Ah well...

Sadie in Blue - Houston child portrait

Today we spent the day painting the bathroom a pretty sky blue color with white trim. I dont think this little house has been painted in, oh, I dunno, 10 years...at least?  We have decided that we dont really feel like moving any time soon, even though our little house is small. We are zoned to some great schools, we are extremely centrally located, our little house is in a really great neighborhood....and we are not in any position to buy a house anytime soon...so here we are.  We decided that we would like our little place to be a bit more zippy though, since we will be here a while longer, so we painted and replaced the vinyl tile in the bathroom. Now we are deciding what room is next...girls room ( light, bright green paint), kitchen ( blue?) dining room? living room? Those both currently have hideous dark wood paneling which I just got the OK to paint. Maybe once its all done I will have a party :)

Katie & Blakes wedding { Houston wedding photography }

I am still catching up on all my blogging ( hence the blog a day) and so I am going to be going in all directions date-wise :) These are images I took at Katie and Blake's wedding on April 10, 2009.

I actually shot this one all on my own, but I got so many great shots I almost ran out of memory cards ( their wedding was a LOT of fun!) Note to self- purchase more cards...

The wedding was held at Safari Texas Ranch out in Sugarland. The facility has many different venues to choose from and they chose the rustic simplicity of the lodge there. It had a great big veranda out back that they held the ceremony on and then the reception was inside the lodge afterwards.

The grounds of the Safari Ranch have some livestock and exotic animals on site. There were goats and deer and I have heard there is a giraffe, although we did not see it. The most visible were the peacocks running free along the grounds. They provided much comic relief during the ceremony with their mating calls :)

Invitations, programs, and paper awesomeness: Courtney Albright

Linens: The Linen House

DJ: JPL Entertainment

Harpist: Terese Weber

Flowers: Something Special in Flowers

Cake : Bessie's Bakery

The beautiful bride. I LOVE bird cage veils!

The dress. Looks lovely hanging in this doorway with all the bright light  in the background.

Katie's favorite color id green...can you tell? These shoes are made by Kate Spade and they were dyed  to be the perfect color.

The groom :)

Putting on that lovely veil. It took us a while to figure it our during her bridal, but during the wedding it was a snap becausshe had already done it. Reason # 507 for doing a bridal. It is a dry run for the big day :)

Did I mention these guys were a lot of fun?

Peacocks!

Neat idea for place cards right?

Courtney did these as well, arent they awesome???

I think these worked really well and they matched the color scheme perfectly.

Shoes!!!!

First dance. Notice how all the bridal party is nicely line us in the background? Sweet!

Ok, funny story... This couple above? They were at another wedding i worked the next night with my boss D. Jones at the Corinthian. I thought I was so tired I was hallucinating :)

This is Laura and Alex, I shot their  destination wedding in the Dominican Republic on March 7th. I still need to blog about it :)

I LOVE SPARKLERS!!!
